Yoga Teacher and Psychotherapist
my yoga journey to the self
I am a Greek woman living in the UK for the past 22 years. I am alife-long learner and teacher. I found yoga intuitively in my twenties and did not pursue teaching until my 40s. The last twenty years I used yoga as my sanctuary, my safe place, the place where I connect with myself and my body, where I integrate parts, where I reflect, where I find my answers and tap into my own wisdom, the place of healing. Parallel to this I trained and grew as a psychotherapist and came to see clearly the immense therapeutic power of yoga and how it fits in with other therapies as a holistic approach to connecting our fragmented selves. Bessel Van Der Kolk proclaims yoga has been found to be more effective in healing trauma than any other method and I am a true believer in this.
In yoga we find our breath and our rhythm again, what we lost since we were born perfect and in sync with ourselves. We reclaim the connection between our mind and our muscles and regain control and mastery whilst also relinquishing control and allowing what we can't control to be what is. We learn to find ease and make space in adversity, not by gritting our teeth but by bringing compassion and building resilience. We give ourselves permission to be silent and still, to rest deeply. We learn to claim our power and feel strong supple and steady. We have fun. The mat is a theatre for life to unfold and stories to be told if you are attuned and listening. Each and every person finds their own yoga in the class, the instructions are just invitations.
